"What is your view on Microdermabrasion versus fruit acid/chemical exfoliants?"
  • Print

Depending on what you are treating and the results you are looking to achieve, both can be very effective when used alone or in conjunction with each other. Think of microdermabrasion as a polisher to the skin, as it helps to exfoliate and remove the top few layers. Many people like the physical effect (the smooth, clean feeling) that microdermabrasion offers the skin, but it can be contraindicated to someone that is experiencing flaccid skin, breakouts, broken capillaries, etc. When you use a fruit acid/chemical exfoliant, it will work by dissolving the top few layers as well. But depending on what fruit or acid you use, you will have other benefits, such as hydration, brightening, oil-absorption, stimulation, etc. Hydroxy Acids can give you the same effect as microdermabrasion, however you can treat a variety of different skin conditions depending on what blend or Hydroxy Acid you select.
