"Many of my clients are having severe Milia problems, especially older women who use all-day wear make-up. Their dermatologists want to lance them out, but I recommend exfoliation; what would you recommend for treating and effectively preventing them?"

Start by asking your clients if they are using a product – cosmetic or skin care – that contains mineral oil. This is often the source of the problem. The long-lasting make-up is probably the culprit to the clogged pores. Recommend they start with an oil-based cleanser, followed by a regular cleanser, and a gentle daily exfoliation (finish with the appropriate moisturizer). Then, 2-3 times a week, recommend an exfoliating mask with enzymes to remove dead cells and debris that can clog pores. In the treatment room, you could apply a professional strength exfoliant that contains a combination of alpha hydroxy acids and enzymes.
