"Paula Begoin says that Lavender Essential Oil breaks down the cell structure and is not helpful to your skin, any thoughts on that? "
  • Print

Paula may be taking information from a 2004 study that examined Lavender Oil and cell damage. The authors contribute cellular damage to a byproduct of Lavender Oil – Linalool. However, concentration is key when it comes to essential oils. If you’re using Lavender Oil at small concentration, you will not get a high concentration of Linalool. It's important to note that this effect has not been demonstrated by other studies to our knowledge, nor has it been demonstrated in cells in vivo- meaning the results cannot be extrapolated to humans through a skincare product using a small percentage of Lavender Oil topically.
