"Is there any nutritional advice for those that suffer from acne (besides foods to avoid)?"
  • Print

Remember that acne treatments really depend on the individual, and keep the person's age in mind. Adult acne is different from teenage acne. Overall, a healthy diet will be reflected in healthy skin. Acne can be triggered and/or exacerbated by stress, which can be alleviated by Vitamin B2 (whole grains, dairy). The antioxidant Zinc is a known immune booster, which can also help. Probiotics may help skin produce natural antibiotics (which kill live, bad bacteria). Also, the hormones and allergenic proteins in milk could contribute to acne, so look out for that. These factors do, however, all depend on the individual, and they are not the sole treatment option for acne.
